Atelier has confirmed it is financing the development of a substantial PBSA scheme in Leeds, West Yorkshire. The £30.8m development finance loan has been provided to the Torsion Group, allowing the business to develop the PBSA scheme. When completed, the site will host 205 studio rooms near Kirkstall Road.

“Torsion’s proven track record in delivering high-quality PBSA means we are happy to partner with them once again on this latest development in Leeds.

“We worked closely with the Torsion team to structure an effective facility which will enable them to secure the site and deliver the project. Key to the success in this deal is the trust built up between all the project partners.”

The development will be completed in time to accommodate students for the October 2026 academic year and it will address the shortage of PBSA in the area, ever popular with students.

Torsion Group sees this development as a great opportunity to expand further into the PBSA sector.

“We are pleased to be working with Atelier on our Kirkstall Road development, which is the latest in a succession of recent deals with this leading finance provider.

“Their professionalism and ability to deliver customised finance facilities has been integral to securing this large PBSA development in Leeds.

“By leveraging Atelier’s flexible financing options, we will be able to optimise our build programme and ensure timely delivery at Kirkstall Road.

“Having this financial agility allows us to stay ahead of the market as demand for high-quality student housing grows.

“Our ongoing partnership with Atelier gives us a strong foundation to scale our presence further in the PBSA sector.”

In June Atelier announced that it had completed a finance facility for Hanover House, a new PBSA scheme in Bristol.

The £5.38m facility allows Rengen Developments to refurbish and convert Hanover House – a Grade II office building in Bristol city centre – into a 26-bedroom PBSA scheme. The building includes a flat and 25 self-contained studios.

The PBSA scheme will provide much-needed student accommodation in the heart of Bristol, which is home to several leading universities and has one of the greatest shortages of student accommodation in the country.
