The Class Foundation is thrilled to announce that Managing Director Kelly-anne Watson has been named the winner of the “Woman of the Year – PBSA” at the Inspiring Women in Property Awards 2024.

This prestigious award highlights the transformative leadership, unwavering commitment, and innovative strategies brought by women who are redefining the student accommodation sector.

Since joining The Class Foundation, Kelly-anne has been a driving force in elevating the student living sector. Under her guidance, The Class Foundation has become a leading strategist in European student living, focusing on the pillars of Availability, Accessibility, Experience and Collaboration to over 3 million beds.

This vision is crucial as student markets continue to face unprecedented challenges in housing, demanding creative, sustainable solutions that prioritise student wellbeing and long-term resilience.

Kelly-anne’s approach is shaped by her personal journey of resilience. She transformed a challenging childhood into a successful career, driven by the belief that supportive communities can unlock potential.

I’ve always believed that the right environment can change a life. The student living sector has a unique role to play in creating spaces where students can thrive during some of the most formative years of their lives.”

This passion for community-building is evident in her past work, such as her role in introducing the first health and wellbeing clause to the UK’s National Code in 2016, to her ongoing commitment as a board member for a youth homelessness charity, where she continues to advocate for safe, inclusive spaces for all young people.

Her leadership has not only shaped The Class Foundation, but has also forged a collaborative community of over €450bn in assets across Europe.

Through impactful partnerships and strategic dialogues, Kelly-anne has been instrumental in bridging public and private stakeholders to address housing pressures in university cities.

Her recent article – A New Pandemic is Approaching: The Global Housing Crisis in Europe – emphasises the urgency of this collaboration, calling for collective action to mitigate the impact of housing shortages on students.

While we’ve made significant progress, there is still much to be done in ensuring that all voices are heard, especially those historically underrepresented. At The Class Foundation, our mission is to improve student lives across Europe by fostering environments where diverse perspectives are valued and collaboration is prioritised.”

Her leadership is set to guide the sector through new challenges, championing sustainable growth and a commitment to social value.   This award recognition not only honors her past achievements but also celebrates the vision she brings to the future of living in Europe.

Kelly-anne expresses her gratitude towards her peers and the broader student-living community.

I am deeply honored to be recognised among such inspiring women who continue to lead our industry.

Our sector is filled with individuals who are not only leaders in their fields but also mentors and advocates. I will continue contributing to a future where we all feel empowered to make a difference.”

Kelly-anne’s award win follows The Class Foundation’s recent release for their Student Living Monitor Survey 2024. It reveals critical insights into the impact of housing on student wellbeing across Europe
