Lavanda and data solutions and ESG technology specialist Utopi have entered into a strategic partnership to streamline performance, drive sustainability and boost rental income across purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) portfolios.

Lavanda OpenPMS now integrates seamlessly with Utopi’s building performance data platform, enabling operators to unlock significant operational benefits while minimising energy consumption and controlling carbon emissions.

OpenPMS is Lavanda’s API-first, end-to-end property management platform designed to power highly automated, digital-first renter experiences that realise performance improvements in student accommodation portfolios.

The Utopi Platform generates billions of live data points, providing operators with real-time insights to optimise asset performance, reduce utility costs, and strengthen ESG performance across their portfolios.

Historically, established and legacy property management systems have been difficult to integrate with, causing frustration within the sector due to a lack of collaboration among providers of cutting-edge technology. Costly development times and a cautious approach to potential overlap and competition have hindered innovation in the industry.

“Our partnership with Utopi means we are meeting demand for solutions that not only streamline property management, but also deliver measurable ESG and energy efficiency outcomes.

“By integrating Lavanda’s OpenPMS with Utopi’s data-driven insights, this partnership provides operators with cutting-edge property management technology designed to drive sustainability, reduce operating costs and significantly elevate the overall performance of assets.”

The pair decided to form a strategic partnership because, as fully open systems, they recognised that helping clients access the right information requires a collaborative approach among technology providers.

By leveraging the combined capabilities of both platforms, operators can reduce utility costs, improve ESG performance, increase rental income, and reduce tenant churn.

The integration also allows users to centralise and streamline operations, enhance their data stack, and improve their profit and loss impact – all contributing to increased asset value across their portfolios.

The partnership will allow both new builds and retrofit assets to optimise utility usage, gain full remote control of site temperatures, and enhance tenant engagement — all through a unified platform.

“This partnership means we are pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in ESG and energy management across managed residential property portfolios.

“By combining our strengths, we are enabling operators to drive unparalleled levels of efficiency, reduce operational costs, and enhance the overall value of their assets.”
