Student accommodation provider Collegiate UK has received two awards for two of its developments in Portsmouth. Crown Place Portsmouth and Middle Street have been named as winners at the prestigious StudentCrowd Student Voice Awards 2024.
The two properties excelled in categories such as value for money, location, property management, cleaning, social spaces, social experience and internet services. Collegiate’s Crown Place scheme secured the top spot, with Middle Street taking second place.
In addition to these wins, three additional Collegiate UK properties received special mentions for their exceptional student reviews. Crown Place in Norwich, Shaftesbury Hall in Cheltenham, and Tudor Place in Chester were all praised for its high standards and positive student experiences.
These acknowledgements demonstrate Collegiate UK’s commitment to excellence across its nationwide portfolio, even in locations that didn’t meet the eligibility criteria for the main awards due to city-specific review thresholds.
“Crown Place Portsmouth is easily the best place I’ve lived in the UK.
“The location is perfect, being right in the centre of everything, including the train station, all the shops you could need, and grocery stores.
“The staff are brilliant—very friendly, positive, and helpful.
“The rooms are great. Basically, everything you need is in one place.”

The Student Voice Awards are unique in the sector, with winners determined solely by feedback from students themselves. This year’s awards were based on an impressive 48,981 verified resident reviews, making them a trusted benchmark for excellence in student living.
“To see two of our Portsmouth properties take first and second place in the Student Voice Awards is a fantastic achievement. These awards are particularly meaningful because they come directly from the voices of our residents, and they reaffirm our commitment to delivering the best possible student living experience. A huge thank you goes to our teams for their hard work and to the students who took the time to share their feedback.”
