Graham Investment Projects has submitted plans to Glasgow City Council for a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) in Glasgow. The proposed development at 138 Hydepark Street represents a significant opportunity to regenerate a brownfield site in a highly accessible location within Glasgow.
The planned development, in the Anderston area, would deliver 410 beds in a mix of 236 studios and 174 cluster flats over 25-storeys on a site which is currently a rundown office block.
Amenities would include a reception, roof terraces, a game area and lounge, cinema, group study area, karaoke room, e-games room, fitness room, social laundry and quiet study room.
If approved, the PBSA scheme would be operated by Fresh, who currently operate three sites in Glasgow – two in the West End and one in the East End.
“The project’s design responds thoughtfully to its urban context, incorporating a contextually appropriate architectural form.
“It meets high sustainability standards, incorporating measures to reduce carbon emissions, promote active travel, and enhance biodiversity. Its car-free
approach and extensive cycle parking provision further bolster its credentials as an environmentally friendly development.“The building’s design prioritises community integration, with active ground-floor uses and enhanced streetscape interactions contributing positively to the public realm.”

Glasgow has 75,395 full-time students – of which 39,017 have an accommodation need. The existing and pipeline supply (including the proposed site) of PBSA accommodation addresses around 25,000 of this.
Graham Investment Projects’ PBSA project aligns with local and national planning policy objectives, providing much-needed housing for students in a sustainable and well-connected area.
