YourTribe has submitted a planning application for an eight storey PBSA development at a site in Elephant and Castle, south London, located next to its other 16 storey PBSA site.
Designed by Aca Studios, the proposed scheme – which is part of the new development at 63 – 67 Newington Causeway – includes 243 beds and 2,108sqm of flexible office space.
If approved, the new PBSA scheme would replace a four-storey building that hosts the London Bridge job centre and offices.
In line with the site allocation, high quality Class E commercial space is also part of the scheme. The prominent Newington Causeway frontage is taken advantage of, with an attractive commercial façade, and a highly visible clear entrance to the upper floors.
The scheme has been through several pre-application meetings, a design review panel and public consultation, as well as detailed input from a full design team of consultants.
On entering the building, students will be greeted by a 24 hour concierge at reception. The main area of the ground floor is zoned into separate spaces, with some informal seating areas and study desks.
Other amenity spaces include a gym, cinema and a coworking/team study space. Level three will include an external terrace designed as a social and breakout space for students.
“Each aspect of arriving, entering and using the building has been carefully considered during the design process, including

activities within individual spaces. As a result, the proposed development offers inclusive design that fulfils access requirements of the Building Regulations and London-wide access policies.”
The proposed development would back onto a 233-bedroom student accommodation scheme currently being developed by YourTribe.
