X1 Campus has submitted plans for a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development in Salford.

Designed by Tim Groom Architects, the ten-storey development will comprise 396 PBSA studios and wheelchair-accessible studios. Amenities will include a courtyard and shared communal spaces which will enhance community engagement through active frontages.

The brownfield site is currently being used as a taxi firm and an MOT garage and whilst the site itself is not located within or close to any conservation areas, and does not contain any statutorily or locally listed buildings, it is located within the setting of several Grade II listed buildings and locally listed buildings. Convenient transport links are only a 10-minute walk from Salford Crescent Railway Station.

“The proposal intends to create a contemporary student residential building that will enhance the street scene with active frontages and place making, provide a positive contribution to the regeneration of Lissadel Street, and form a link between the heritage areas and listed buildings of Lissadel Street through the use of materiality and detailing.”
