Eagle One Estates has received planning approval to develop a new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) in Bath. On 12 February, Bath & North East Somerset Council’s (B&NES) planning committee agreed to allow Eagle One Estates to turn Lower London Road office block Berkeley House into a 34-bedroom PBSA scheme.
The block will contain six cluster flats and three studio apartments. Berkeley House was built over 30 years ago just on the other side of Lower Bristol Road from Newark Works. It is currently occupied by local company BMT, but now they are planning to relocate to a different site.
The site is adjacent to Bath Central Strategic Policy Area and Bath Enterprise Zone. Newark Works adjacent to the northern side of Lower Bristol Road is included on the National Heritage List for England at Grade II level.
The proposals include retaining most of the 22 existing car parking spaces on the site and providing secure parking for 24 bikes. The only external changes proposed are new windows.
