true student’s purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) in Sheffield – true Sheffield – is nearing completion. Designed by Lewis and Hickey and built by Aztec Construction, the strikingly tall building, once completed, is set to become a new landmark in the city skyline. The construction is Sheffield’s second-tallest building and is set to be ready towards the end of the summer following topping out in April this year.

The new 28 storey building, located on the site of a former BMW car garage on Broad Lane, will deliver 494 bedrooms for students from the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University.

Designed with the ultimate student experience in mind, the true Sheffield development will feature a mix of shared ensuite apartment style bedrooms and studio rooms, alongside extensive amenities such as dedicated study zones, festival zones for award winning ‘trueLife’ events and easy socialising, and a professional grade gym.

The core of the true Sheffield building stands at 85.6m high, and marks the first major change to the city’s skyline since the construction of St Paul’s Tower in 2010. Once complete, true Sheffield will also feature a sky lounge and outdoor terrace on the 26th floor, allowing students to make the most of the breathtaking panoramic views across the city and the Pennines.

“Designed to provide high-quality living for students via operators true student and Bricks Group, this scheme brings together smart design, sustainability and a strong sense of place for it’s student community.

“It’s always rewarding to see our architectural vision take shape – especially when it’s delivering real impact in a vibrant, growing city like Sheffield.

“Well done to Aztec Construction, Abacus, Curtins, ME7 and many more key professionals who are making this happen with us. Looking forward to seeing it fully complete and welcoming students soon!”
