HG Living has given an update on a new purpose-built student accommodation scheme at Kennington Lane in Vauxhall, London. It is being delivered in partnership with International Students House (ISH) – a charitable organisation and student accommodation centre.
Contractor, HG Construction, has made excellent progress, with brickwork now completed up to level eight on three elevations, and internal finishes moving along steadily.
Bedroom decoration and flooring are also complete from level one to eight, and furniture installation is well underway. Ground floor works are advancing in line with the programme, with second fix and curtain walling installation progressing well.
“This is a fantastic scheme which will enable International Students House to help more young people from all backgrounds achieve their academic goals.”

The scheme will deliver 185 student beds alongside amenities such as communal kitchens and living areas, a laundry room, indoor cycle parking and electric bike charging points. The ground floor will incorporate a café which will also be open to the local community, alongside back-of-office space for ISH staff to help manage and operate the building.
Situated a short walk away from the Vauxhall tube, bus and railway station, and close to The Oval Cricket Ground, a large supermarket and a gym are within walking distance from the Kennington Lane development, with Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens and Kennington Park also nearby.

Since 1965, ISH has aimed to provide affordable homes and a safe community for students from around the globe. The Kennington Lane scheme marks a significant milestone for ISH as its first brand new building in its history.
“This is the charity’s first brand new PBSA scheme in their 60-year history, and we are proud to be working in partnership with ISH and HG Construction to deliver this landmark project.”
