Amro Partners has emerged as a standout operator in the Spanish student purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) market in terms of student happiness and wellbeing, achieving the highest score of any operator in The Class Foundation’s Student Living Monitor 2024.
The annual survey, which gathered insights from nearly 11,000 students across the continent, highlights how the quality of dedicated student accommodation, including key services, communal facilities and outdoor spaces, is essential in fostering student happiness and wellbeing.
“We’re delighted to receive such positive feedback from our student residents, whose opinions we value above all else. We set out to create exemplar sustainable student housing assets providing comfortable and healthy living environments, with multiple private and shared spaces and dedicated on site teams. This research shows that when it comes to student wellbeing, these factors are critical.”

Spain proved to be a particular success story, with a Mental Health Index (MHI-5) score of 61, compared to 57.8 in wider Europe, showcasing the benefits of providing high-quality accommodation and comprehensive services and support to students.
Securing access to their first choice of accommodation, achieved by 86% of students in Spain, and the availability of amenities such as swimming pools, gyms, cafes and restaurants, contributed to its high score.
Students in Spain also reported benefiting from greater access to essential services like mental health support and career guidance, compared to their peers across Europe, reflecting the efforts of operators to prioritise student wellbeing.
“Our findings make it clear: student happiness is deeply connected to where and how they live. This report is a call to action for us all to build environments that do more than just house students, but actively contribute to giving them a positive experience, make them feel like they supported and are part of a community, thus leading to their overall success.”

Amro Partners has developed nine PBSA projects in Spain since its debut in 2018, comprising around 2,400 beds in total, with a presence in prominent student cities including Seville, Madrid, Valencia, Salamanca, Málaga, Granada and Pamplona.
Operated under its regional operating platform, Amro Estudiantes, the projects are granted the highest possible sustainability standards, including BREEAM Outstanding, Fitwel 3* and WiredScore Platinum, with a strong focus on student experience and wellbeing.
The report comes as The Class Foundation have also said that a vital part of the university experience is the places where students live. The environment students reside in during these years plays a crucial role in their wellbeing, academic success, and development as future leaders.
Thoughtfully designed spaces, well-placed locations, strong communities, and a focus on sustainability all contribute to creating environments where students can thrive.
