Developer SAV Group have announced that planning has been granted to alter its existing Louise House PBSA development in Victoria, London.
Located on 33 Medway Street, Louise House is an unlisted building at the junction with Arneway Street. Previously, the building was used as a hostel, and now provides accommodation for students.
With the new plans approved, SAV Group will now be able to provide 101 PBSA rooms and 51 aparthotel rooms.
“We are delighted to announce that we have achieved planning permission to extend and alter our existing student asset in Victoria. The development will provide 101 studios and a new 51 apart-hotel.
“There are too many people to thank for their involvement with this scheme, but a special thanks to Studio Moren, Maddox Planning and AVR London.”

The proposal included an upward extension of the existing building, which involves the removal of mansard and the replacement of a part two, part three storey roof extension with green roof and PV panels, rearward extensions from lower ground to new sixth floor levels, excavation to form a new sub-basement level, alterations to the elevations, installation of a ground source energy system and
mechanical plant.
“This has been a great project to work on over the past couple of years. The consent will allow a tired site in Westminster to be fully optimised and reinvigorated through a combination of retrofit and new build.”
Anthony Frendo, Director, Maddox Planning
The aparthotel will be situated on the fourth, fifth and sixth floor levels, which will be accessed via a new entrance on Arneway Street with a dedicated reception area at ground floor level.
The enlargement and reconfiguration of the existing hostel accommodation at sub-basement, lower ground, ground, first, second, and third floor levels will provide accommodation for students during the academic terms (42-44 weeks per annum), with some stays of up to 51 weeks and ten weeks per annum outside the academic terms.
“Thanks to everyone involved with this! It will make Louise House a truly unique asset.”
Emilios Tsavellas, Development Director, SAV Group
Louise House also retains a significant amount of existing structure and will utilise a ground source heat pump system and on-site renewable energy to reduce operational carbon by 77% over the current baseline.
