Valeo Management Europe, who operate the Liv Student brand, have submitted planning for a new PBSA mixed-use development on Carrick Street to Glasgow City Council, alongside Flow Design Architects.
Valeo Management Europe’s £60m plans aim to transform the currently vacant brownfield site in the Broomielaw area, that was previously home to the GAP Group headquarters.
The proposed PBSA scheme will comprise 531 studio rooms and more affordable cluster flats, which will make up 70% of the project, if approved. The Carrick Street proposals also include the development of a versatile commercial unit.
Notably, the proposals will preserve and incorporate the modern Glasgow City Mission building, ensuring continued operation of the site by the charity and the creation of a backdrop that will complement its architectural form.
The final submission marks the culmination of an extensive period of community consultation, with events being hosted in June and September this year.
This consultation period allowed residents to learn about the proposed Carrick Street development, as well as to engage with the project team and provide their feedback.
“We are delighted to have submitted our application for new purpose-built student accommodation for Carrick Street.
“The Broomielaw and wider River Clyde Waterfront is undergoing significant transformation, and we hope that our plans will go somewhere to supporting this transition, as well as providing much needed student rooms in Glasgow.
“I would like to take the opportunity to thank all those who have engaged with us throughout the consultation process and provided us with their valuable feedback.”
David Saunders, Managing Director, Valeo Management Europe
