Following the celebration of topping out at the building and with practical completion nearing this summer, McAleer & Rushe have achieved several milestones at Greystar’s Canvas Wembley scheme (also known as Canvas Arthur House and NE01) – a 19-storey purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) development. The scheme is Greystar’s first ground up PBSA asset under its Canvas brand.
Designed by TiggColl, the amenity spiral staircase was recently installed on-site, connecting the ground floor amenity space and the landscaped pavilion above at first floor. The staircase – constructed off-site – creates an authentic and distinctive space that brings to life Greystar’s Canvas brand.
“Another major milestone was reached with the removal of the tower crane in March, marking the final phase of construction. We now look forward to pressing on with works to deliver a modern, high-quality and sustainable living environment for students in Wembley.”

The Canvas Wembley scheme – a few minutes’ walk to Wembley Park tube station – will deliver 770 new studios ranging from 17.8 sqm to 28.6 sqm.
Amenities include a gym, yoga studio, lounges, co-working spaces, a library, outdoor gardens, podiums, a laundry room, cycle storage, and a café and activity space. Residents will also benefit from a calendar of events throughout the year and a comprehensive wellbeing programme.
The PBSA development – within the North East Lands development near Wembley Stadium – will be all-electric and is connected to the District Heat Network to provide efficient heating solutions.
The wider project team includes AtkinsRéalis, HTA Design, Walsh, Caldwell Consulting and Building Performance Prediction.

Greystar acquired the PBSA site from Quintain in April 2023 to deliver the Canvas Wembley scheme. The company entered into its first Green Loan in the UK for the acquisition, underscoring its commitment to delivering an environmentally responsible and sustainable building.
The Canvas Wembley site is part of a 12-acre district that will create a mixed tenure community next to the biodiverse seven-acre Union Park.
