Collegiate UK, owned by student accommodation provider and investment manager Arlington Advisors, has secured its second operational management agreement with a University of Cambridge college.

St John’s College has appointed Collegiate UK to operate 245 Passivhaus-certified rooms in 39 townhouses at Hinsley Lane for students from St John’s College, Lucy Cavendish College and Clare Hall.

Passivhaus is a German-developed building standard that aims to achieve ultra-low energy consumption and high comfort levels through passive strategies like insulation, airtightness, and ventilation.

The appointment extends Collegiate UK’s relationship with colleges within the University of Cambridge. At the beginning of this year, Collegiate UK was appointed to operate Lucy Cavendish College’s 355 rooms at Castle Street, when the college in partnership with Macquarie Asset Management acquired the property from Arlington Advisors.

Collegiate UK is the only external student accommodation operator to have been appointed by colleges within the University of Cambridge.

These partnerships with University of Cambridge colleges are part of Collegiate UK’s strategy to grow its operation of on-campus accommodation, aligning with the expansion plans of its parent company, Arlington Advisors, the student accommodation provider and investment manager.

“We are proud to be strengthening our presence at the University of Cambridge through this new partnership with St John’s College. The College’s commitment to affordability and exceptional build quality – evident in the delivery of these Passivhaus-certified homes – aligns perfectly with our own values.

“We are passionate about Cambridge and are excited to play a role in delivering an outstanding student experience through high-quality, sustainable accommodation and dedicated on-site support”.

Last month, Arlington Advisors announced it had been appointed by King’s College London to manage the refurbishment and remedial works of the college’s 717-bed Champion Hill estate in south London.

Collegiate UK now operates 10,405 beds, of which 8,269 are owned by Arlington Advisors, in 34 student residencies in 21 cities.
