Long Harbour has appointed industry veteran, Sylvain Fortier, as Senior Adviser. In this role, he will provide independent oversight and strategic guidance across the firm’s investment strategies.

Following the completion of the Management Buyout Long Harbour is currently exploring, Sylvain will become a Non-Executive Director and will join the firm’s board. Long Harbour is looking to make a further Non-Executive Director appointment in the second half of 2025.

“We are delighted to welcome Sylvain to our team. His extensive experience in institutional real estate investment will be invaluable as we continue to expand our strategies – particularly within the living sector. Sylvain’s strategic insights and independent perspective will help guide our long-term vision and enhance our governance as we grow.”

With over 30 years’ of experience in real estate investment and financing, Sylvain brings deep sector expertise that will support Long Harbour’s continued growth and evolution as an institutional grade investment manager. His appointment further strengthens the firm’s governance framework as it scales its operations and broadens its investment platform.

Sylvain currently serves on the board of a REIT in Canada and as Chairman and a Non-Executive Director at M7 Real Estate, having joined in April 2024. Prior to this, he was at Ivanhoe Cambridge/Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec for 18 years, where he helped build a successful $20B global residential business, and eventually became Chief Investment and Innovation Officer.

In this role he led the development and execution of global investment strategies, overseeing a real estate portfolio valued at approximately C$75bn. His remit spanned direct and indirect investments, fund positions, and portfolio companies across North America, Europe, Asia Pacific, and Latin America, with a focus on innovation and emerging trends in real estate.

“I look forward to taking on the role of Non-Executive Director for Long Harbour, working with the board and executive team to support the firm’s focus on operational real estate and help drive its strategic ambitions across the living sector.”
