Scape Lachlan, a striking new purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA) precinct, is transforming the skyline of Kensington, which is close to the University of New South Wales. Being built by Infinity Constructions Group – the company’s second project for Scape Australia – the towers are rising for what is set to be a landmark development.
The development consists of two towers, rising to 18 and nine storeys respectively, delivering modern student living with a focus on quality, sustainability and community.
Construction is progressing rapidly across both buildings. Pouring is underway on Level 15 of 18 at building A, with structural works climbing steadily towards topping out. Building B successfully topped out at Level nine, marking a significant milestone with the structure now complete. Façade installation has also started on both towers, revealing glimpses of the high-quality design and finishes to come.
The ground level at the scheme has been designed as a vibrant hub with a lobby, communal areas, retail spaces (including food and beverage outlets and potentially a supermarket), public thoroughfares, and an ‘Innovation Space’ intended for use by the Council and nearby tertiary institutions. It aims to become the ‘heart of Todman Square’, featuring active retail frontages with outdoor seating.

Interiors at Scape Lachlan will feature extensive joinery, modern lighting and colourful finishes. The design emphasises community, with spaces intended to foster interaction among residents. A notable design concept involves maintaining a heritage façade with a new tower appearing to float above it.
Designed by architecture firm SJB, the PBSA development will contribute significantly to the urban transformation of the Kensington area, providing modern accommodation and amenities for students and young workers.
Scape Lachlan is a key part of Scape Australia’s significant investment in developing multiple PBSA buildings along Anzac Parade in Kensington and Kingsford.
